Permies for Equity is a growing group of permaculture teachers and practitioners interested in analyzing social patterns within our movement and applying permaculture principles to our community to address issues of equity, access, and diversity.
We see a mandate to examine social patterns in the ethics, the foundation of the movement. Fair Share/Return of Surplus to us means addressing social and economic inequality, learned social behaviors and patterns, and working as allies to reinvest our surplus of privilege to tip the scales towards a more inclusive and egalitarian movement.
Much as fish don’t know they swim in water, many of us don’t realize the implicit and assumed social patterns of which we are a part. Permies for Equity are dedicated to observing and interacting with these patterns, learning how to create regenerative social patterns that can move permaculture forward with greater diversity, resilience, and humanity on the earth we steward together.
